Chinese Conversation 2 Will Soon Start At Washtenaw Community College
Hello everyone! (Dà-jiā hǎo! 大家好!) My students and I are having a great time in Chinese Conversation 1 at Washtenaw Community College. We’re also looking forward to starting Chinese Conversation 2 on April 7. We hope you can join us!
In Chinese Conversation 2, we’ll continue to learn basic survival phrases, including everyone’s favorite, “Where’s the bathroom?” We’ll explore money and shopping, too, and we’ll learn how to read and write around 10 Chinese characters.
For more information about Chinese Conversation 2 – and to have a peek at Chinese Conversation 3, which begins on June 2 -- check out the introductions below.
Not sure whether the class on April 7 is right for you? Need to know how to register? No problem! (Méi wèn-tí! 没问题!) Just email me at kimfu@umich.edu or call me at 734-669-0188. I’ll be glad to answer your questions.
Hope to see you in class! (Qī-dài gēn nǐ-men jiàn-miàn! 期待跟你们见面!)
Chinese Conversation 2

Fom April 7 to May 19
7:00 -- 9:15pm
Duō-shǎo qián 多少钱? (How much is it?) In this class you'll continue your discovery of Chinese by delving into the world of money, shopping, and bargaining. You'll also expand your ability to converse outside the marketplace. Plus, you'll take your language experience to a whole new level by learning Chinese characters, including the ones in your Chinese name. Don't forget to explore the class website. There, you'll find a trove of information about the culture as well as discover exciting local Chinese events. Crown a semester of learning by sitting down to a Chinese banquet, where you and your classmates will do all of the ordering.
Chinese Conversation 3

7:00 -- 9:15pm
Zhè shì wǒ péng-you 这是我朋友! (This is my friend!) This phase of your Chinese journey will take you to days of the week, months of the year, and dates. You'll learn to make introductions, too, and talk about your family and friends. You'll also continue working with Chinese characters. Are you keen for more? Then just turn to the class website. It's filled with links to additional language and culture sites. Finally, get ready for a delicious end-of-semester feast. You'll be in charge of telling the waiter what goes on the table -- in Chinese, of course!
