Zhù-yì! Zhù-yì! Chinese Conversation 2 Soon To Start At Washtenaw Community College!

Hello everyone! (Dà-jiā hǎo! 大家好!)  My students and I are having a great time in Chinese Conversation 1 at Washtenaw Community College.  We’re also looking forward to starting Chinese Conversation 2.  Come and join us on April 12!

In Chinese Conversation 2, we’ll continue to learn basic survival phrases, including everyone’s favorite, “Where’s the bathroom?” We’ll explore money and shopping, too, and we’ll learn how to read and write around 10 Chinese characters.

For more information about Chinese Conversation 2 – and to have a peek at Chinese Conversation 3, beginning on June 7 -- check out the introductions below.

Not sure whether the class on April 12 is right for you?  Need to know how to register?  No problem! (Méi wèn-tí! 没问题!)  Just email me at kimfu@umich.edu or call me at 734-669-0188.  I’ll be glad to answer your questions.

See you in class! (Qī-dài gēn nǐ-men jiàn-miàn! 期待跟你们见面!)

Chinese Conversation 2
7 Tuesday Nights
From April 12 to May 24
7:00 -- 9:15pm

Duō-shǎo qián? 多少钱? (How much is it?)  In this class, you'll continue your discovery of Chinese by delving into the world of money, shopping, and bargaining.  You'll also expand your ability to converse outside the marketplace.  For example, you’ll learn to ask, "How do you say this?" "What does this mean?" and -- most important --  Where’s the bathroom?  Plus, you'll take your language experience to a whole new level by exploring Chinese characters, including the ones in your Chinese name.

Chinese Conversation 3
7 Tuesday Nights
From June 7 to July 19
7:00 -- 9:15pm

Zhè shì wǒ péng-you! 这是我朋友! (This is my friend!)  This phase of your Chinese journey will take you to days of the week, months of the year, and dates.  You’ll also find out how to talk about your birthday and sing the “Happy Birthday!” song.  You'll learn to make introductions, too, and describe your family and friends.  So don’t forget your photo album! To wrap things up, get ready for a scrumptious end-of-semester feast. You’ll be in charge of telling the waiter what we’re going to eat – in Chinese, of course!

Too busy for a class, but still want to learn about the Chinese language and culture?  No problem!  (Méi wèn-tí! 没问题!)  Simply join my Yahoo! group.  It's also called "3 Hours A Day."  You'll receive 3 to 5 emails every other week, all about China.  Just contact me at kimfu@umich.edu.  I'll add you to the group.  And welcome!  (Huān-yíng! 欢迎!)
